About Dr. Michelle Thompson
Dr. Michelle Thompson is a psychology professor, educator, and creator of the Playbooks, a collection of psychology-based learning systems designed to help people build the skills to thrive in school, performance, health, and everyday life.
For more than 15 years, Michelle taught Health Psychology with indivdiuals struggling with weight & overeating. Over the past five years, she taught Sports Psychology to comp[etitive cornhole players. Throughout her career, one question has remained at the center of her work:
Why do people continue to struggle, even when they already know what to do?
Rather than viewing people as broken or lacking motivation, Michelle believes many of life's challenges stem from skills we were simply never taught. While education often focuses on knowledge, her work focuses on helping people develop practical skills like awareness, understanding, intentional decision-making, connection, and lifelong growth.
Many people first came to know Michelle as "Cornhole Meesh," where she coached, competed, commentated, and studied the psychology of performance in one of the fastest-growing sports in the country. Cornhole became more than a game, it became a real-world laboratory for observing how pressure, confidence, identity, relationships, and community influence human behavior. Those experiences continue to shape the way she teaches psychology today.
Michelle is the creator of the Student Playbook for Life, Performance Playbook, and Health Playbook, psychology-based learning systems that apply the same foundational principles to different areas of life. Whether working with students, parents, athletes, educators, or adults, her mission is the same:
To help people build the skills they need to thrive, not just today, but for life.
